This year’s summer seminar will be in person on the UCSB campus. Here are the cost breakdowns for the seminar:

Prices …

  • $1850 for a single room

  • $1600 per person in double occupancy

More to know…

  • You may request to room with a specific person. Please indicate your request in the registration form. We make every effort to honour your requests, but we cannot guarantee them.

  • Indicate your room preference and/or if you need accomodations when you register for the seminar (upper or lower floor, near the rest room, lowered bed…)

  • All seminar activities are included in the one price, including room, meals (see below), key note speakers, strand facilitators & resources, evening activities, and special events

  • PARKING is NOT included. We will send you a letter in early July (or sooner) to explain how to purchase your parking permits BEFORE you leave home to come to the seminar.

  • You will purchase your own parking permits through UCSB’s Parking ePermit Service at this link: https://www.tps.ucsb.edu/parking-permits

  • PLEASE BE CAREFUL to choose the parking permit for your own needs! If you have trouble walking across campus, look at the options available to you on the parking permit website, and look carefully at the campus map at this link. The campus is flat, but it is also large. Some parking lots are quite a distance from Anacapa Residence Hall.

  • NB: We do not make arrangements for parking permits, nor can we make any changes for you since this is a University service. We will do our best to answer any questions you may have, but since this is entirely a UCSB matter, and not a Summer Seminar detail, please read all the details before you make your choices for parking. We will be doing the same thing as you. Thank you for understanding. We appreciate it!

The cost for the seminar covers:

  • A room on either a single or a double occupancy basis in the Anacapa Residence Hall on campus

  • All meals while you reside on campus, including breakfasts, lunches, dinners, coffee breaks, evening social gatherings and special events, including the last evening dinner on the lawn overlooking the ocean with special music and more!

  • Please note one exception!! On Monday after lunch, the seminar takes a break so participants may go out to explore Santa Barbara. Dinner that one evening is NOT included. You will be free to dine out on the town at your own expense. Please do go out and enjoy visiting Santa Barbara with your fellow participants.

  • See the seminar schedule for more information about meals,  coffee breaks and evening social gatherings.

For those who live nearby, or who are staying off campus…

  • The cost is $900

  • The price includes lunches, special events, and the last dinner on the lawn

  • It does NOT include parking!

Know Before You Go

UCSB Conference & Hospitality Services Website

The UCSB Conference and Hospitality Services have created a wonderful website to provide the information we need to know about everything as enjoyable as possible during our stay on campus! On their website, we will find information about all the following:

  • emergency contact information

  • maps

  •  lodging

  • transportation and parking

  • dining & meals

  • campus attractions and resources

  • Santa Barbara & area attractions

  • safety & security

  • campus accessibility

  • laundry facilities

  • what to pack and bring with you

The campus is smoke and tobacco free. You are not permitted to smoke anywhere on campus.

Also, if you find yourself locked out of your room, day or night, you call the Santa Rosa front desk number at (805) 893-2772 and someone will come to help you!

The Conference Service website is at this link. Please check their website before attending our seminar!

In addition, the Conference Services have provided this handout to assist us with their key regulations for our safety. Please read the handout before you come to campus. Thank you!

UCSB Parking & Transportation Services

The USCB Conference Services have provided a handout to explain about parking on campus. Please see the handout at this link for information about parking regulations, where to park, and how to obtain a permit. We strongly recommend that you purchase your permit at home before you come to Santa Barbara. You can purchase the permit for the whole time you need one, ie, from Friday, July 18th to Wednesday July 23rd.

Transportation & Parking Services works closely with Conference Services to establish parking areas and create parking permits for attendees of summer conferences held on campus. Information about parking, parking permits, and assigned parking lots or areas is provided to attendees by Conference Services. Essential information about parking on campus is posted on the Conference Services “Getting Here” webpage.

ePermits

  • In order for an ePermit to be valid, the vehicle’s license plate must be affixed to the exterior of the vehicle, unobstructed, and fully visible from the drive aisle of the parking lot or structure.

  • Parking ePermits are granted for the purpose of transportation to and from campus. Garaging (storing) your vehicle on campus is prohibited unless you are an “H” ePermit holder with an active lease agreement in the assigned parking lot.

  • Parking ePermits are issued solely by Parking Services and are assigned after verification of eligibility.

  • ePermits are not transferable between friends or family members.

  • ePermits are issued when the applicant has paid the required fee, resolved all delinquent parking citations and provided proof of eligibility.

  • Failure to provide and maintain accurate information on the parking ePermit application may result in citation, fine, the loss of parking privileges and referral to the Campus Police or the Dean of Students for disciplinary action.

  • You will not receive a physical permit, because your license plate acts as your ePermit number. You may be subject to citation if you neglect to associate your license plate on your Parking account at http://tps.ucsb.edu/parking-permits/ePermits.
